Appreciating Diversity in the Workplace

The first step to international success

Effective intercultural communication is a "must have" in our global economy.  Business success has always been built on understanding and nurturing strong relationships; therefore to establish successful business relationships with our multicultural clients and colleagues we must have international knowledge.

Understanding the values, attitudes and behaviors of people from various countries is key to knowing how to do business with them. Otherwise, working, meeting, entertaining, negotiating and corresponding with colleagues or clients from different cultures will be a minefield. One basic misunderstanding can ruin or perhaps delay work for months.  We can no longer afford to think that everyone's culture is similar to our own.

We offer a range of flexible, thoroughly researched and entertaining cross cultural training programs. We prepare quality onsite customized training courses that address your industry’s issues and company-specific concerns. Our onsite training programs give you the ability to combine any of our workshops to fit your needs. The end result is training that is strictly tailored to meet your requirements.

Our training promotes clearer communication, breaks down barriers, builds trust, strengthens relationships, opens horizons and yields tangible results in terms of business success; a real return in your investment.

Developing cross-cultural communication skills offers students the information they need to build cross-cultural relationships. This program identifies cross-cultural barriers and explains the process for avoiding these barriers.

Your program can include:

  • Communicating Across Cultures
    • Establishing rapport when communicating cross-culturally.
    • Building trust when communicating cross-culturally.
    • Listening actively.
    • Providing positive feedback when communicating cross-culturally.
    • Providing constructive feedback when communicating cross-culturally.
    • Exercise (The exercise will be based on issues and concerns that are typical to your organization.)

    • Identifying the steps for overcoming conflict when actions and expectations do not match.
    • Recognizing how to conduct yourself appropriately with someone who is culturally biased against you.
    • Exercise (The goal is to understand the potential cultural differences you may encounter and to determine the best way to handle customers, vendors, or co-workers who may be culturally biased against you.)
  • Cross-Cultural Meetings
This module offers students information about organizing and attending cross-cultural meetings, as well as processes for negotiating and solving problems in a cross-cultural meeting. Guidelines for team building across cultures are also provided.
    • Identify items that are acceptable to bring to a cross-cultural meeting
    • Identify issues to consider when arranging the meeting space for a cross-cultural meeting.
